BUY FOOD FROM ISRAEL

The Israeli economy is suffering broadly from the effects of terrorism. You can help.

1. Maximize the number of everyday items--coffee, jams and jellies, cookies, soup mixes, etc-that you switch to buying Israeli-made. Go to the Kosher section of your grocery store, and read labels to find products manufactured in Israel. Go to stores that specialize in Jewish foods like, in Denver, the East Side Kosher Deli and Auerbach's.

2. Speak with your grocery store manager. Request that the store buy Israeli products that you would like to be able to shop for there. Bring them sample empty containers of Israeli-manufactured products you have purchased from other stores.

Note: Cub Foods regularly stocks kosher meats. They began because a shopper said she would patronize the store more regularly if they stocked Kosher meat. The same strategy should work for Israeli-produced canned, bottled, and frozen foods.

3. Ask your grocer to stock Israeli food products on the regular, not just Kosher food, shelves. That way they would sell substantially more Israeli coffee, teas, jelly, soup, candy, canned juices, etc.

4. Encourage your friends to do the same.
